My view: Voters ultimately will decide the future of Utah’s economy

Recent analysis by Utah Foundation shows that our state’s tax burden has dropped to its lowest level in 20 years. Even when accounting for the recent motor-fuel tax reform and the property tax for education — both of which are critical to our future success by improving rural roads and schools — our ranking did not see a significant increase. While our tax code still needs further modernization, elected officials deserve credit for striking an appropriate balance between investment and tax burden.
