Survey compares views of delegates and voters

April 21, 2016 (KTVX)

State delegates are preparing to gather at their party’s convention to weigh in on the political
process.
A new report is shedding light on their views.

“The party delegates are more ideologically polarized than party voters are,” said Shawn Teigen with
Utah Foundation.

His organization surveyed 973 delegates about their top priorities.

Those answers were compared to a survey of voters to see how the two differ.

While delegates are more partisan their priorities tend to align pretty closely with voters.

Among Democrats delegates share the same top 10 priorities as voters.

On the Republican side delegates share 8 of 10.

The divide comes on hot button issues.
