Stephen J. Kroes, President: Recruited by the Board of Trustees in 2001, Steve came from Sacramento, California, where he served as Vice President of California Taxpayers' Association and most recently was a manager with Synergy Consulting, working for state government agencies on technology projects. Steve serves as a member of the Governor's Council of Economic Advisors for Utah Governor Jon Huntsman, Jr. and previously for Governor Michael Leavitt. He has extensive experience in public policy research and analysis. Steve received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Brigham Young University and a Master of Public Administration degree from University of Southern California.

David S. Newell, Research Analyst: David joined the Utah Foundation in 2007 after relocating from Gothenburg, Sweden, where he worked as a business development consultant. Prior to working in Sweden, David received both a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Master of Public Policy degree from Brigham Young University. During his Master’s program, David did an internship for the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva, Switzerland. David also has experience as a marketing consultant and as a political science teaching assistant.
